The University of Aysén was founded on August 7, 2015, the date on which Law 20,842 was enacted, creating the state universities of the O'Higgins and Aysén regions, within the framework of the Higher Education Reform in Chile, which considers among its pillars to conceive education as a right. Located in Western Patagonia, the University of Aysén was born with a strong sense of regional relevance, in a territory with particularities that make it different from other parts of the country, which gives it a seal and a unique local identity, being one of the premises of its creation "contribute from the local, to solve global problems." This college hopes to open its doors to the first students in March 2017.
