The Universidad Católica del Maule (UCM) was founded on July 10, 1991 as an autonomous university derived from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, therefore it is its legal successor in academic and patrimonial matters.

With more than 20 years of autonomy and more than 40 of university tradition in Maule, this house of studies is a leader in professional training, scientific development and links with the environment in the Maule Region. The UCM contributes to the evangelizing mission of the Church, and assumes the challenges of the Maule Region and Chile, through the cultivation of thought, science, arts and culture from a Christian perspective.

It trains integral professionals, with a critical, constructive vision and a Christian orientation of the world, who assumes the challenges of the environment, delivering solutions that guide the development of the communities and organizations in which they are inserted, always respecting the environment.

It permanently contributes to the development of programs that contribute to the generation of knowledge, aimed at providing sustainable and socially responsible solutions regarding the needs of the environment, adding value to initiatives that promote research, innovation and technology transfer. His areas of academic development are Medicine and Health Sciences, Pedagogy, Agricultural and Forest Sciences, Engineering, Basic, Social and Economic Sciences, and Theology and Philosophy.
