To train, at a level of excellence, researchers qualified to work autonomously in the generation of specialized knowledge in the field of Language Sciences.

Applicant Profile

The applicant must be in possession of a bachelor's or master's degree in linguistics, applied linguistics or related areas, awarded by Chilean universities. In case of having academic degrees of foreign origin, these must be equivalent to those mentioned above. In addition, they must have an understanding of the English language, sufficient to understand it in written form, at a level that allows them to read articles, books and access international documents and databases.

Graduate profile

In accordance with the general and specific objectives, the expected profile of its graduates includes the development of the following skills:

Mastery, at an advanced level of breadth and depth, of the general theoretical knowledge of the linguistic discipline and of its particular area of specialization;
Ability to autonomously generate new knowledge that is significant for the discipline;
Ability to discern which theory and which method to use according to the nature of the object of study and objectives of the research;
Ability to be inserted in transdisciplinary teams (multi and interdisciplinary) and in national and international networks of scientific research;
Ability to disseminate the product of their research appropriately according to various discursive genres;
Ability to discern the different areas of their work in accordance with ethical principles and values in their actions.
