goals

To train graduates capable of proposing, directing and conducting original research independently, the results of which constitute a contribution to scientific and technological knowledge, in the field of industrial processes of metal mining and industrial minerals.

Applicant Profile

Possess a Master's Degree in Engineering Sciences, or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Sciences or equivalent training (for foreign students it is equivalent to an Engineer degree in different specialties such as Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mechanics, Mines, Industrial, etc.)
People with a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent may apply to the Program, but they may be required to enroll a number of additional courses.
Submit application form, certificate of title or degree, concentration of notes, two letters of recommendation, and Curriculum Vitae.
Be accepted as a student by the Doctoral Program Council.

Graduate profile

The granting of the academic degree of Doctor in Mineral Process Engineering requires demonstrating the ability to carry out research independently, making an original contribution to the knowledge objectified in publications in mainstream journals or invention patents.

The graduate of the Mineral Process Engineering Doctorate Program is specialized in processes of the metallic and non-metallic mining industry. The development of a frontier research thesis in mineral processes and their knowledge in process fundamentals (thermodynamics, electrochemistry, phase equilibrium, etc.), as in separation technologies (leaching, crystallization, flotation, etc.) and application of computer-aided methods in process design, modeling, analysis and optimization, enable you to:

a) Generate and apply scientific and technological knowledge in their area in an original and innovative way.
b) Identify, pose and solve problems within a field of mineral process engineering, the solution of which requires the generation of new knowledge through applied scientific research.
c) Innovate and / or adapt solutions in the technological field of mineral process engineering that enhance the mining industry.
d) To perform with a critical judgment and analytical capacity to deal with solvency and in a sustainable way, the technological problems in the area.
e) Formulate and direct research and development projects in consulting firms, organizations and companies in the mining area with high levels of excellence.

Lines of investigation

Process Engineering Sciences: Investigates fundamentals with an emphasis on thermodynamics, electrochemistry and corrosion, phase equilibrium, and biotechnology to better understand phenomena in the fields of process engineering and the water and energy resources necessary for mining development .
Separation Systems Engineering: Studies separation technologies, with an emphasis on leaching, bio-leaching, crystallization, flotation, bioflotation and electro-dialysis with the aim of improving mineral extractive processes and the efficient use of energy and water resources.
Process Systems Engineering: It consists of the systematic application of computer-aided methods in process engineering, with an emphasis on design, modeling, analysis and optimization of leaching, flotation and water resources processes.
