The objective of the program is to train Doctors in the field of History, with advanced theoretical and methodological skills in the research lines of the Program.

Applicant Profile

Applicants for the Doctorate in History must meet the requirement of having an academic degree of Bachelor of Humanities, Social Sciences or related disciplines and, preferably, a Master's degree in any of these areas, awarded by national or foreign universities accredited by instances officers. Applicants, if they are foreigners, must present the degree certificates duly apostilled.
Exceptionally, graduates from other disciplines may be considered eligible, who will be required to have research experience in history, demonstrable in indexed publications of the discipline or other merits recognized by the Academic Committee.

Graduate profile

The graduate of the Doctoral Program in History will be a researcher trained to carry out creative, autonomous and original studies, with a training that dialogues both with different historiographic currents and with other disciplines of the Humanities and the Social Sciences.
The formative orientation of the program will allow to handle interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological perspectives, developing critical skills necessary to perform as teachers or autonomous researchers or in academic, scientific or patrimonial institutions, and to develop and execute management and research projects in the Humanities.

Lines of investigation

The lines of research have been defined based on the research trajectory of the academics of the Department of Historical Sciences and Geographies of the University of Tarapacá, which, in turn, are aligned with the objectives indicated in the institutional mission and vision.
