The general objective of the program is to contribute to the training of researchers, with the academic skills required by a specialist in educational sciences.

The specificity of the program seeks to train researchers in educational sciences with solid theoretical and methodological knowledge in education, which allows them to formulate models of analysis, explanation and interpretation with an interdisciplinary nature and to elaborate proposals for educational development and innovation with national quality standards. and international. Doctoral students will specialize in one of the research lines of the program, that is, education and culture and higher education. Likewise, future doctors are expected to articulate this knowledge with the regional and national policies of their countries of origin.

Applicant Profile

Applicants to the program must be in possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education. They can also apply from other disciplines both in the humanities and social sciences or another related area, with the degrees indicated above. Certification of academic degrees must have been awarded by accredited institutions and programs. If they are degrees acquired abroad, the certifications must be duly apostilled.

Graduate profile

The graduate of this prigram will have acquired skills that allow them to contribute to the generation of rigorous knowledge theoretically and methodologically in the educational field. In the same way, the graduate will be in a position to contribute to the dissemination, diffusion and dissemination of disciplinary knowledge and in the formation of advanced human capital.
This implies that the graduate can carry out high-quality complex research that contributes to the progress of disciplinary knowledge, given the critical thinking developed, the clear understanding of his / her field of study and the domain that he / she possesses of qualitative and quantitative methodologies and their corresponding information gathering and analysis techniques and instruments. The graduate will develop specific knowledge in any of the previously mentioned lines of specialization of the doctorate (education and culture or higher education).

- Education and culture.
It addresses the related phenomena of education and culture in cross-border spaces where dynamic migrations take place with complex cultural diversity and high social inequality. It includes the analysis of the interrelationships of education with interculturality, migration, the treatment of diversity (vulnerable groups, gender and cultural diversity), and the participation of local actors in education processes throughout life.
This line of research includes the analysis of public policies in education and their concretion in educational organizations, within the framework of the cultural diversity present in this cross-border territory. He has a global and critical vision of educational policies, both from the point of view of education in its relationship with culture, as well as its processes and results to propose relevant transformations and changes.

- Higher education
The area is aimed at understanding the role of higher education in general and of higher education institutions (universities, professional institutes, technical training centers and other organizations linked to higher education) in their relationship with the local, national and international. Along with this, it seeks to promote critical reflection, creativity and innovation in the area. It is inspired by the theoretical and empirical contributions of various disciplines (philosophy, education, sociology, psychology, administration, history and economics).
It addresses global processes such as the massification and stratification of higher education and internationalization, as well as the ways in which these trends condition higher education in local and regional contexts.
