General objective:
The general objective of the program is to train human resources of high scientific level, capable of understanding, integrating, generating knowledge, identifying, solving problems and proposing approaches for the development of Veterinary Sciences and their application to academic, research and productive activities of Chile and other countries. Graduates will acquire the ability to generate knowledge, develop and consolidate their own lines of research.

specific objectives
- To train researchers in the areas of Veterinary Sciences, capable of joining the search for new knowledge in a critical context and with rigorous training in the scientific method.
- Train graduates who promote development programs in Veterinary Sciences in the areas of Animal Pathology, Animal Reproduction and Biodiversity, proposing new approaches for these disciplines.
- To train trained human resources to join the productive sector, providing solutions to scientific and technological problems that limit the productivity of the sector.

The graduate of the Veterinary Science Doctoral Program is a trained graduate. to analyze and solve scientific problems, develop and execute research projects and lines of work in Animal Pathology, Animal Reproduction and Biodiversity, performing individually or as part of a competitive multidisciplinary group. He will be able to work in the academic and scientific field, in universities and technological research and development centers of public and private institutions, linked to Veterinary Sciences.

These objects will be achieved by students taking basic and specialization subjects and by developing a doctoral thesis.
Students admitted to the Program must pass the basic and specialization subjects and by the development of a doctoral thesis.
Students admitted to the Program must pass the following basic subjects, which constitute the foundations of their scientific training.
In addition, the graduate must pass at least three specialization subjects, a Research Unit and a Bibliographic Seminar, making their interest compatible with the availability of the program or other programs at the University of Concepción or other Universities.
