goals

The main objective is the training of researchers who have a broad domain of biological sciences in the areas of ecology and evolution and who are capable of making contributions to the advancement of this scientific discipline. Along with the above; aims that its graduates are capable of leading scientific research groups and teaching at the highest level.

Applicant Profile

Those who hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the respective discipline or in related disciplines, granted by national or foreign universities that ensure satisfactory training for the purposes of the Program. The applicant must be in possession of a bachelor's degree or professional title whose level, content and duration of studies correspond to a training equivalent to a bachelor's degree at the University of Chile.

Graduate profile

The graduate of the Program is a researcher who has knowledge and skills that enable him to solve questions and problems in the field of ecology and evolutionary biology in a systematic, creative and independent way. He masters the current theoretical frameworks and the different approaches and models in the study of biodiversity at different spatial and temporal scales, which enables him to recognize, identify and propose solutions to problems in the field of Ecology and Ecvolutive Biology. The above allows the resolution of scientific problems linked to the origin and dynamics of biodiversity at different levels of biological organization, through the different disciplines cultivated by the faculty that include population dynamics and genetics, behavioral biology, ecological physiology, paleoecology, biogeography, micro and macroevolution, conservation biology, among others. Graduates will be able to lead scientific research groups and teach at the highest level, becoming effective promoters of the development of these disciplines both in their basic and applied aspects.
