Santiago, April 4, 2016.- In the monthly session of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities held last Thursday, the 2017 Admission Process Calendar was approved, which defines that this year the University Selection Tests (PSU) will be given on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 of November 2016.
As usual, at 9:00 a.m. on the first day The Language and Communication test will be taken, and at 2:30 p.m., the Science test. The next day, also at 9:00 a.m., the Mathematics test will be taken and, in the afternoon (2:30 p.m.), the History, Geography and Social Sciences test. While, The results of the tests will be announced on Monday, December 19, at 8:00 a.m., and the Applications will begin that same day until Friday, December 23 at 1:00 p.m.
“It is important to point out that this year an effort was made by all the entities involved in the admission process so that the surrender of the PSUs, the delivery of results and the applications were finalized before the end of the year festivities. This is a highly complex process that requires coordinating a series of actions to ensure its success and has important consequences for applicants, so we hope that this adjustment in dates will allow students and their families to face this process with more peace of mind. " , said the Director of the Single Admission System (SUA) of the Council of Rectors, Dr. María Elena González.
Other dates of the 2017 Calendar
The Director of the SUA highlighted that the Admission Process consists of five stages: registration, PSU surrender, application to universities, university selection and enrollment. “In each of them there are relevant milestones that students must bear in mind in order to participate in the process in the most favorable way for them. The information necessary to understand these stages will be published in various official documents during the year, ”explained María Elena González.
The first relevant documents are: "Contents of the University Selection Tests", which will be published on April 14. Subsequently, on June 9, the "Norms and Important Aspects of the Admission Process" will be disseminated, which provides the necessary information for students to know their rights and duties; and the "Payroll of Careers and Weightings".
The PSU registration stage will begin next Monday, June 13 and will run until Friday, August 5. That is, there will be a period of 54 days to register via the internet through the website of DEMRE (Department of Evaluation, Measurement and Educational Registry of the University of Chile), which is the body in charge of administering the admission process by mandate of the CRUCH. Compared to last year, the deadline was extended by seven days, in order to make it easier for students to enroll.
As for the application period, it will begin on Monday, December 19 at 9:00 a.m. and will run until Friday, December 23 at 1:00 p.m. Like last year, students will have approximately five days to apply.
The results of the university selection will be published on Monday, January 9 at 8:00 a.m. and, later, the enrollment stage will begin. This last stage will take place between Monday, January 9 and 18.

Ranking of notes
Regarding the Ranking of Notes, the calculation of the Ranking of Notes that was introduced in the last admission process will be maintained. That is, for the calculation From the Ranking Score, all establishments in which the student attended High School will be considered, which allows more accurately assess student performance in relative context, which is consistent with the spirit of this selection factor.
So that applicants can estimate their Ranking Score, it is contemplated that on Thursday, November 3, the Ranking Simulator will be available on the DEMRE website.
