The rector Juan Manuel Zolezzi was recognized by his peers for the work he did during his tenure, between November 2011 and March 2015.
The rector of the University of Valparaíso, Aldo Valle, took office today as the new executive vice president of the Council of Rectors (Cruch) for a period of two years, in a handover ceremony held during the monthly session of the organization, held at the Pontifical Catholic University From Chile.
At the ceremony, in which the Head of the Division of Higher Education (Divesup) of the Mineduc, Fracisco Martínez, was present, a "Certificate of delivery and reception of the position of Executive Vice President" was signed, in which it is established that "the Dr. Juan Manuel Zolezzi, rector of the University of Santiago de Chile, formally hands over the position of Executive Vice President of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities to the Rector of the University of Valparaíso Mr. Aldo Valle Acevedo, who assumes the position from today March 26, 2015, as well as the other elected authorities of this Council ”.
On the occasion, Rector Valle pointed out that “this year we have a great challenge, because the Council of Rectors is responsible for its history, for its mission, and for the fruitful relationship it has had with Chilean society for more than 60 years, to be in the front row of the reform of higher education ”.
The rector Valle underlined the commitment that Cruch has to contribute to higher education in Chile reaching better levels of quality and “correcting what unfortunately we have not done well, because many young people and many families expect from higher education an opportunity that effectively allow people and the country as a whole to achieve greater development, more equity, more integration and social cohesion, because a modern society is characterized mainly because it governs higher principles of equity and equal opportunities.
