The meeting addressed new forms and opportunities for cooperation between Belgian and Chilean universities.
Tuesday, December 6, 2011.- This morning a delegation of rectors of Belgian Francophone universities with rectors of CRUCH met at the CRUCH offices to analyze the future prospects of academic cooperation between both Councils based on the Agreement- Framework signed in 2007.
Representatives from the following universities were part of the Belgian delegation: Catholic University of Leuven, University of Liege, Free University of Brussels, University of Mons, University of Namur, University of Gembloux and University of Saint Louis. Representatives of the following institutions were also present: the Interuniversity Council of Francophone Universities (CIUF), the Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS) and the General Council of High Schools (CGHE).
At the meeting, the realities of Belgian and Chilean universities were presented and there was consensus that cooperation should be sustained in real and concrete conditions in each country.
Among several proposals, the possibility of promoting the installation of centers of excellence between both countries stands out, giving priority to the area of astronomy. Various alternatives for the exchange of academics and scientists were also analyzed, as well as the possibility of encouraging the creation of joint projects between young researchers from both countries.
