The meeting addressed contingency issues such as the 2012 Budget, the setting of fees, and the maintenance of scholarships for students who will be in classes during the months of January and February.
Monday, December 5, 2011.- This morning the first official meeting was held between the new board of the Council of Rectors and the Minister of Education, Felipe Bulnes. On the occasion, contingency issues were addressed such as the scope of the 2012 Budget, the setting of fees, and the extension of maintenance scholarships for students who will be in classes during the months of January and February. Likewise, the CRUCH announced that the work of the joint conjuncture committee will be reactivated in order to address and settle various issues of interest to public universities.
Regarding the 2012 Budget, an issue that worries the Council of Rectors, and that was raised with Minister Bulnes, is the score required of those who want to enter higher education to qualify for some type of scholarship, “we are concerned that a person who remained selected with 500 points in the PSU cannot apply for a scholarship, this is an issue that we still have to work on ”, underlined the rector Zolezzi, Executive Vice President of the Council of Rectors.
Regarding the relevance of this first meeting, the rectors stated that this meeting is the first step for an intense period of work, “we will work together with the Mineduc both on the issues that we have pending, as well as the agenda for 2012. This new The Executive Committee expects to do a good job in conjunction with the Ministry of Education ”, indicated Rector Lavanchy, alternate Vice President of the Council of Rectors.
Regarding the established deadlines for the traditional universities to inform the Mineduc the values of their 2012 fees, the rectors clarified that before the 9th all universities will have delivered their fees proposals, despite the fact that the readjustment of the public sector will be defined close to on the 12th.
