At the meeting they shared their views regarding the Budget for Higher Education approved by Congress.
For about an hour and a half, the rector Juan Manuel Zolezzi, executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, held a meeting with Confech spokesmen, Noam Titelman (Catholic University), Scarlett Mc Ginty (University of Chile) and Patricio Contreras ( University of the Lakes).
One of the issues addressed at the meeting was the impact that the Higher Education Budget, approved by Congress, will have on the system. In this sense, according to the rector Zolezzi, "despite the efforts made, the desired gratuity is not achieved, because the scholarships are only for the reference fee and not for the actual fee."
Likewise, at the meeting, the rector indicated to the students that the CRUCH will propose to the Ministry of Education the extension of the delivery of their food and maintenance grants during the summer months, a period in which they continue to attend the second semester, “we have discussed with the students everything related to the end of the year. We propose to them that we will see with the Ministry of Education the possibility that the maintenance and food grants are active during January and February, months in which they will still be studying the second semester that will end in March ”.
